Students from Lynchburg, Virginia, showcased their leadership skills at the 2025 Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project Conference, earning the prestigious Wheeler Award for their innovative approach to substance use prevention. They effectively utilized the STAN Plan developed by Horizon Behavioral Health, demonstrating a strong commitment to long-term health goals relevant to civil litigation, employment, and community welfare.

The recognition also brought a Virginia ABC Mini-Grant to support youth-led initiatives, including the Canvas of Hope mural project, set to take place on July 24th at 1415 Park Avenue. “We are incredibly proud of the Lynchburg students for their hard work, leadership, and vision,” said Januwaa Davis, the Prevention Manager at Horizon Behavioral Health, emphasizing the positive impact these initiatives have on the community.
